What is it?

This musical interactive material provides a fun and challenging way to connect sensory stimuli by responding to touching the icons on the screen as the music plays. Increasing levels of involvement help clients to improve their scores, abilities, and engagement with the little fishies and seaweed on the screen!

As music provides the tempo, touches to the sea creatures provides a visual response.

Who is it for?

“This digital presentation can be used with anyone for fun, but also to address goals of varying populations as used by music therapists and others. Any employee or company involved with helping clients achieve goals in populations such as autism, developmental delays, and even physical therapy situations would find this application to be extremely useful.”

Why should you use it?

“The response to this material by clientele who have used it is very positive! It is so engaging because it utilizes multiple sensory modalities. It is motivating because the levels are easy to move through and fun. It can fulfill many of the goals of clients such as focus, physical accuracy, timing, musical sense, enjoyment, and more. I have not seen anything similar in other applications or services - this is a unique way to help clients connect with their world.”

“As a music therapist, I find the aquarium motivating for my clients. In sessions, it is a favourite intervention of many. It’s a fun way to incorporate the visual, tactual, and auditory senses simultaneously, which may be a difficult task for some. I feel like it can be a great tool for various therapists working with special needs of varying ages. The use of sophisticated classical music is also a plus for me.”
— Emily Naccarato, MT-BC, Music Therapist at ET Music Therapy

How does it work?

Delivered through the UnitusTI electronic data records cloud

Access from any device, anywhere in the world

From the Author:

“This example plays the classical music of Camille Saint-Saens, "Aquarium" from "The Carnival of the Animals" as images go by on the screen. Clients are asked to touch the corresponding images that show the ups and downs of the melody, long and short sounds of rhythmic duration, and varying icons as different instruments sound. It starts out at a very basic level, and as the client begins to understand and succeed, the levels are more challenging. Goals and data can be tracked within the system for therapy use.”
